Preliminary (59/? chp)
(No AI was used in writing, for better or worse)

I give this 9/10. I think it's deserved because the manga delivers on what it's advertising. If you're looking for an unapologetic gorefest full of fanservice, you would be hard pressed to find a better alternative.

I started reading this because I wanted to see more art from Tokiya Seigo after reading Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka, which I enjoyed. This one is also written by the same guy, Fukami Makoto. His writing style works really well for these sex fueled gore fests.

Definitely recommend reading this, whether you enjoy excessive violence/sex ironically or unironically.

Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen ...

A Kite (Anime) add
Preliminary (1/2 eps)
Same as you, I ended up here because clips from this anime series are doing the rounds. Normally I wouldn't review this, but since I've started seeing more and more AI generated reviews on MAL, I'm going to throw in a little bit of human effort.

The reason I recommend watching this is that it gives you a good window into 1998, which is now ancient. The animation techniques are worthwhile but evidently not great enough for you to have ever heard of this anime before yesterday.

You get to see the late 90s idea of a low science fiction world.

I'm definitely new to reading Manga, so I don't have much of a point of reference. So I don't know how I would have enjoyed this if I had already experienced many other works.

The bottom line is that this manga delivers exactly what it promised. Which is a mahou shoujo experience rooted in a grimy realistic framework, with some over the top sensuality and homosexuality thrown in. Mahou shoujo "deconstructions" are their own genre at this point, and I feel like this will probably remain one of the better ones I read.

Reading this was a great experience. ...

I just saw there was another Rage of Bahamut anime when browsing MAL randomly. I am not a fan of Romance anime, and I don't think I've ever seen anything that would be considered Yuri. All said, I don't think this anime is at all for me.

I think it makes no qualms about being a Slice of Life anime. And it is so, in the purest sense. Though perhaps this came out in a time where people didn't really know what that was? (If we assume reviews are written in good faith, and not just venting frustration unrelated to the anime).

The art is beautiful ...

I actually completed a 3000 word review for this movie, but then I realized I just wrote "Not enough Albedo" over and over again.. so I decided to reword it slightly before posting.

Let's be real, there is -nobody on this entire planet- that has watched Overlord who would see a "Not recommended" review and then decide not to watch this movie. You're going to watch it, and those who already did are just here to see who also hated/loved it. So even if I utterly hated it, saying "Not recommended" would just be spiteful and trite.

The chance that anyone ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (12/24 eps)
*(second half is good)

It's like you're watching a streamer play a game that they were paid to play, and pretending to care about the mechanics, but it's really just hollow hype and enthusiasm. That is exactly what this main character makes me feel. Worst take I've seen on the RPG skill system type character progression. Jargon is flooding the screen at any given moment, and it just doesn't mean anything. The main character doesn't even engage with it.

Only watch this if you've absolutely run out of ideas. There are 5/10 rated anime's that are way better than this. Hell, I would rather watch a ...

I would give it an 8/10 because this show is very clear about what it tries to do, and it succeeds.
My first impression during episode one was "Ok, I get it, pretty neat but there's no way I'm watching more than one episode of this"
How can it be interesting to repeat the same premise over and over? They achieved it somehow.

The more I watch these kinds of shows the more I appreciate the creative challenge behind them. To completely ditch the "Hero's Journey" playbook of writing.

Where thrillers try to be thrilling, horror tries to be shocking, drama tries to be moving, etc.. This ...

Preliminary (4/25 eps)
This is the only anime where I got so bored during the supposed 'action scenes' that I literally counted the amount of seconds that nothing happened. Meanwhile we are forced to listen to pointless exposition about the meaningless event that is unfolding or about to unfold, ensuring that nothing will be left to feel excited about.

These 'action scenes' consist of characters inexplicably travelling a seemingly endless distance and floating in the sky (however long is necessary for the pointless exposition to conclude). Like you are having a nightmare where your punches don't connect, or you try to run but can't seem to gain any ...
