About My Rating System:
I'm still working out a rating system to fit me the best I can. My ratings on "Watching" and "On Hold" reflect what I feel about the show at that point. When I finish shows I compare them to other shows of the same size range or very close to the same size range and then rate them compared to each other. I wish there was a decimal system rather than 1-10, but with what we have here's my best shot to reflect how I feel about these anime and manga. I'm still working on my ratings for shorts and manga. So they are subject to change. Some anime ratings may shift as well as my opinion changes with time.
1.) I don't include filler in my ratings of long running shows. I understand why some people do, but I personally am only interested in the canonical material so I skip filler. A good site to skip filler is

2.) Although presentation can award points for a show or movie (ex: Paprika) it is one of the aspects I assign fewer points towards my final ratings. Story and characters are what I'm mostly interested in anime and manga for.
Personal Rating System:
10 - Doesn't designate perfection as I find flaws in every show ever made, but these are my personal favorite anime/manga.
9 - These are my favorite anime/manga from each size range (Movie, 13 episoders, 26 episodes, etc.) They are the next tier down from my personal favorite anime/manga.
8 - These are anime/manga I really enjoyed and I personally feel are a must watch if you like the synopsis and genres. They are the next tier of shows down from my favorites from each range.
7 - These are anime/manga I liked. I feel they are good watches if you like the synopsis and genres. They are the next tier of shows down after the anime/manga 8 tier rated anime/manga.
6 - Not for me, but if you enjoy the genre(s) give it a try
5 - These are anime/manga that I didn't find to be bad, but I didn't really get invested in them to feel much either way. I don't rate anything below a 5, because I don't want to give super low ratings just because I didn't get into them. 5 basically designates shows that just weren't for me.

In my Favorite Anime List:
I see the two anime Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood as one entity, so Fullmetal Alchemist represents Fullmetal Alchemist + Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I also see the two seasons of Code Geass as one entity so Code Geass R2 represents the whole show for me. I honestly wish the favorites list wasn't limited to 10, because there are so many anime I want to represent as my favorites. But with the system we have I picked two favorites from the 100+ episode range, two favorites from around the 50 episode range, two favorites from around the 20 episode range, two favorites from around the 13 episode range, and two favorites from movies.
