Emily and Pollyanna are both young girls who move in with their mother's side of the family aunt after their father suddenly dies. Both of their aunts at first only take the girl in because of 'duty' and are strict and old-fashioned. That's how both of the girls start their new orphan lives as they go through hardships, make friends and grow up. Though Emily and Pollyanna are very different in personality, the set up of these two series is nearly exactly the same and they're slower-paced slice of life series that deal with personal growth and put their focus on character development.
